2008 Jeremy Slayden has had decent results with the bat the last two years, but when you're a 24-year-old college hitter playing in A-ball, that's expected. He'll be a proud member of the Union of Concerned Fourth Outfielders. 2007 Slayden established himself as a power hitter early in his college career, which got him drafted even after a torn rotator cuff and other injuries shut him down. Healthy last season, Slayden showed he had plenty of sock left, ripping 44 doubles in only 400 at-bats, a feat made both more and less impressive by the fact that he almost never played against left-handed pitchers. That, age, and being a defensive liability are all working against him.
