With only three makeup games going on in the Dominican Winter League and all of the other leagues off on Monday, I have no player updates for you today. Instead, I put together a 25-man roster of DWL prospects because I really enjoy organizing things into 25-man rosters whenever possible.

So many top prospects are playing in the DWL, so it wasn't that difficult. Only three starting pitchers that I added to the back of the bullpen haven't pitched but are on rosters. There were about 10 really good position player prospects that didn't make the cut. Current DWL stats are listed along with their projected starting level in 2013.

I'm here for the obligatory "how many games would these guys win against..." question. Not going to go for the major leagues, but would this squad win the IL or the PCL? Their rotation is probably experienced enough, but the hitters are young. Maybe if you started Segura over Hansen...

Except that Segura is no longer a prospect.

Good point. He had a few too many AB's in 2012 and is no longer a rookie. Luckily, there were quite a few other infield prospects to choose from. I'll change it. Thanks!

I think a couple of the young guys would have slow starts, having to adjust to the crafty late 20's journeymen who have been in the minors forever. But eventually, they'd catch up and put up big numbers. Many of these guys are ticketed for Triple-A or Double-A anyways.

interesting to see that you think Starling Marte will start in AAA next year?...why is that? Just curious.

Also, could you see Junior Lake possibly filling the Cubs need at 3B at some point next year?

Regarding Lake, I think it's possible but only if Ian Stewart (assuming he's not non-tendered) struggles again, Josh Vitters doesn't progress, and they don't fill the spot this offseason. So I guess I see him as plan D right now. Still needs a full season in Triple-A and needs to show improved plate discipline.

I think my Marte projection has easily been the most questioned this offseason. My thought is that you have Tabata, Snyder, and Marte currently fighting for 2 spots and I still think the Bucs can fill one of those spots via free agency or trade. Tabata is signed long-term and has had some success at the big league level so I'd give him the edge for now. Snyder still has some upside and I think he needs to play regularly to find out if he's going to reach his potential. In Marte's case, I think he was rushed and still probably needs a few months of regular at-bats in Triple-A. The power and speed is intriguing and I think he's going to be a very good player, but 8 BB/50 K in the majors and similar rates in the minors is concerning.
