As the 2013 offseason creeps towards us, our eyes start to turn to projects and productions yet unaccomplished, and the personnel necessary to not only execute those resplendent tasks but to elevate the bar previously set. Our goals and ambitions going forward will require an expansion in coverage, and as a result, we are looking to add talent evaluators to the prospect staff.

Joe Maddon on Why Delmon Young

The favorite manager of many sabermetricians takes an unexpected turn in explaining why he's been giving up the platoon advantage willingly at DH.

In response to this conversation among Jonah Keri, Sam Miller and DRaysBay, I asked Joe Maddon at his pregame press conference in Boston about the decision to make right-handed-hitting Delmon Young his DH against righties as opposed to the left-handed Matt Joyce. Boston will pitch righties John Lackey, Clay Buchholz and Jake Peavy in Games 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
