A better fit for positionless baseball before the shift ban, Will Wagner is miscast as a regular at second or third base. As a hitter, he’s more of a gap-to-gap contact pest than a power threat. Essentially he has the Luis Arraez starter kit, though Wagner’s ceiling isn’t as high.

Growing up, most of us were lucky to get a few swings in before our dad's arm gave out after a dozen 67-mph "heaters" in the batting cage. Wagner was 12 years old when his dad, Billy, retired an All-Star with plenty of gas left in the tank. That would certainly help explain the advanced hit tool he's shown so far. He‘s played all over the infield, though the lack of power means the bat probably only plays as a utility player. He has good command of the strike zone and puts the ball in play consistently with his opposite-field approach.
