Welcome to our preview of the minor league season. We’ll be rolling these out over the course of the next week, in no particular order, and we’re switching up the format a bit, in an effort to let you know which teams are going to be relevant in your league/area, for when you head to the ballpark (or follow along online). Not every team has released their roster, and rosters always change, so please keep in mind that this is the best information we have at time of publication. If you have any questions, just drop them in the comments. —Craig Goldstein
Definitely worth a road trip…
Lake Elsinore Storm (San Diego Padres – Top 10)
For the second consecutive season the Storm rotation is on track to be positively lit, with no. 4 prospect Adrian Morejon headlining a crew that will also include Michel Baez (over whom I recently fawned) and Tommy John survivor Chris Paddack after those two wrap stints in Extended Spring Training. Former second-rounder Reggie Lawson will also open in the rotation, and while Pedro Avila struggled after a mid-season promotion to the Storm last summer, he previously dominated the Midwest League on the back of a fastball up to 95 and two promising secondaries. And dollars to if-healthy donuts, former wunderkind Anderson Espinoza should also finally join the fun at some point this season. That ain’t a half-bad crew, right there.
