Tool Future Grade Report
Hit 40 Average bat speed; linear swing; quick hands; moderate barrel control; mild bat wrap from right side; small load; does not use hips or lower half at times; will become off-balanced and hit off front foot; shows ability to recognize spin; aggressive hitter that attacks early in the count; lacks the strength to battle inside pitches on the hands; does not always barrel pitches.
Power 30 Fringe raw power; linear swing; does not use hips or bottom half for drive; swing is not conducive for in-game power; more of a gap-to-gap style hitter that may hit the occasional HR.
Baserunning/Speed 60 4.14 from left side; 3.99 on a jailbreak bunt; present agility in all phases of the game; quick first step; will be efficient base stealer.
Glove 60 Plus range; efficient footwork; keeps glove low to the ground while still showing speed and agility when on the move; transfers are quick and clean; hands are fluid and easy; adept feel for the ball and positions himself well before the play; capable of playing plus defense up the middle.
Arm 50 Average arm strength; good footwork helps maximize arm strength; able to make throws on a line from the hole; arm will play average at SS and above-average at 2B.
Overall

Torres signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2009. He displays a glove-first profile, but has enough juice in the bat to work in a utility role. Torres displayed strong efforts at SS and 2B during my viewing, and I believe he has the athleticism and arm to play other positions around the diamond such as 3B or even CF in a pinch. The bat needs slight refinement on consistency with his bottom half staying in sync.
