Hit 60 Plus natural bat-to-ball skills. Plus bat speed with quick hands. Stance features a trigger mechanism that can elongate his swing when he doesn't get set in time, but it's a minor kink. Up the middle approach and hits to pitch location.
Power 40 Will never hit for significant power. Has the bat speed to drive the ball past the outfielders for extra bases but makes no attempt to drive the ball. Gives into little man's game too easily, sacrificing power for contact. Gap/doubles power is present.
Baserunning/Speed 60 Quick first step and runs well under way; Despite plus speed, did not attempt a stolen base in three-game look despite running situations.
Glove 55 He would be an above-average defender as a second baseman where he has enough lateral range, but is maxed out at short stop. Natural hands, quick first step. Solid backhand technique. Can play short but would be below average there.
Arm 50 Not enough arm for throw from 5/6 hole at short stop. Right-side profile. Enough arm to make all of the throws at second base.
Overall

Polanco has the natural hand-eye coordination to hit .300, and because his approach makes no effort to hit for power, he should be able to continue to hit for average as he moves up. Lack of power will limit his ceiling, though he will collect some extra base hits to keep defense honest. If he stays at short stop he'll be a below average defender, but he should be able to handle second base and could be an above-average everyday player there if he can continue to hit over .300. If the hit tool falls slightly short, he'll be a second-division regular, but arm limits his utility profile.
