TINO (There Is No Offseason)

There Is No Offseason (TINO) is a daily—er, weekly—podcast that devotes itself to dynasty fantasy baseball leagues. It’s hosted by Jesse Roche, who spends far too much time studying scouting reports on teenagers in the Dominican Summer League and poring through minor-league stat leaders. That means he is prepared to find deep sleepers for your dynasty squad. He will answer your questions, judge whether you have won or lost your recent trades, discuss strategy, and inevitably veer onto a well-meaning tangent or two.

Ep. 2.16: The 21-Point Deduction

December 10th, 2019

Mark Barry and J.P. Breen return after the Thanksgiving holiday to debate the dynasty ramifications of recent MLB trades and free-agent signings. Is Omar Narváez now a top-five fantasy catcher for the 2020 season? What’s the deal with Luis Urías and Trent Grisham, now that they figure to have greater playing time? Also, the fellas just can’t quit a couple of former Baltimore Orioles hurlers.

Ep. 2.15: Imagine Nick Madrigal But With Fewer Steals And Less Average

November 23rd, 2019

Mark Barry and J.P. Breen bring you one more episode before the holiday break. They discuss a few hypothetical trades, courtesy of the Hot Stove and the baseball media, including a deal that would ship Mookie Betts out West. The fellas break down the dynasty implications of the Yasmani Grandal deal, and they help a listener with his keeper conundrum. Also, is there any reason dynasty owners should be shopping Yordan Álvarez this winter?

Ep. 2.14: Cleveland Will Never Sign Rendon So Who Cares

November 15th, 2019

Mark and J.P. continue to get excited for the hot stove season. The fellas try to determine where Anthony Rendon might end up, what to think about high-risk guys like Giancarlo Stanton and Nate Pearson, and what Scott Kingery might bring in 2020. Listeners also ask about our favorite set-ups for dynasty leagues, as well as what in the ever-living crap we should do about Travis Shaw.

Ep. 2.12: You Can Throw Him Out the Window

November 1st, 2019

Mark Barry and J.P. Breen kick off the part of the season in which dynasty baseball really shines: the offseason. The fellas try and figure out which team Mark should adopt, if Cleveland trades Francisco Lindor for some unknown reason. They talk about some Yankees minor leaguers, what you should do about Adalberto Mondesí, and whether Wil Myers has anything left in the fantasy tank. Listener questions, as always, feature heavily in the second half of the episode.

Ep. 2.11: The Asdrúbal Cabrera of Podcasting

October 24th, 2019

Mark Barry returns from his worldly travels to join J.P. Breen for this episode of TINO. The fellas think about whether Kris Bryant’s grievance could mean that teams stop messing around with service time for top prospects. They talk about the majesty of Juan Soto, and they answer listener questions about older speed guys. Nick Markakis gets a shoutout, too, which is always nice.

Ep. 2.10: I Make That Lamb Money

October 17th, 2019

The podcast has finally come full circle, as ex-TINOer Ben Carsley joins BP Fantasy Editor, J.P. Breen, to sub in while Mark is on vacation. The fellas reflect on Yu Darvish telling a random Twitter troll to eat fried chicken until he dies. They think about Marcus Semien’s breakout campaign, as well as Mitch Garver’s potential to sustain high-end catcher production. Listener questions, of course, take center stage in the back-half of the show, with questions about some oft-injured Oakland pitchers. Ben also tosses in a couple digs at Craig, just because he can’t resist.

Ep. 2.7: We All Can’t Be As Nice As Mark Barry

October 1st, 2019

Mark and J.P. start with an in-depth conversation about what dynasty-league owners should do about the latest news about the juiced ball, which is that Rob Manfred says that things straight-up need to change. They talk about some interesting hitters down in the Arizona Fall League. They also tackle a few listener questions, and J.P. leans into his role as the resident Podcast Curmudgeon™ to steal a player from Mark. Oh, and Mark says he’s going to send an Edible Arrangement to one listener, in particular.
