This episode reminds me of when Sam would do the podcast in the Honda Fit with all the crickets.

A very interesting listen. Powell actually went to school in England for a couple of years, a school called Millfield which has a reputation for having very good sporting facilities.

His efforts to transition from cricket to baseball have got quite a bit of publicity from both the baseball and cricketing press.

On the podcast you wondered if another cricketer had tried to make it in Major League Baseball. Back in the 1980's an English County cricketer called Ian Pont tried out with 6 MLB Teams as this article of the time briefly refers to:

http://www.nytimes.com/1987/06/13/world/in-land-of-cricket-the-grand-slam-resounds.html

County cricket is the level below Test - or International - Cricket in England; it is professional and full-time through the summer months with 18 counties playing in 3 competitions, including T20 which Powell mentioned. The best county cricketers will be selected for the England national team.
