Bartolo Colon has never hit a home run. How depressing.
Let's get right to the trots!
Home Run of the Day: Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins #1 – 22.63 seconds [video]
The home run so good that it's the Home Run of the Day for Tuesday even though it was hit on Monday. The ESPN Home Run Tracker (which I still want to call Hit Tracker Online) says the ball "only" went 442 feet, but that's beside the point. It's a glorious thing to behold.
Incidentally, Justin Ruggiano hit a home run immediately following this blast to give the Marlins a nice back-to-back jolt. That home run also went 442 feet, but to deep centerfield instead of the upper-deck in left field.
Slowest Trot: Nate McLouth, Baltimore Orioles – 25.06 seconds [video]
The first home run for McLouth since July 17 of last year. Maybe he was just happy to be trotting the bases again. The next slowest trot on Tuesday belonged to Mark Trumbo, who took 23.93 seconds to run out his 30th home run of the year. On Monday, Ryan Howard enjoyed his trot to the tune of 25.34 seconds.
Quickest Trot: Eric Thames, Seattle Mariners – 19.46 seconds [video]
In front of 39,000 Seattle fans clad in yellow to celebrate Felix Hernandez's perfect game, Thames did his part to help give the King his victory. It was one of only two trots to break the 20-second barrier on Tuesday. On Monday, Thames also hit a home run, this time circling the bases in 18.38 seconds. It was a nice quick trot, but it was no match for the 17.69 second trot from Milwaukee's Carlos Gomez.
