Jan Alexis Hernandez (SS)(Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy, Florida, PR) will draw some comps to last year's first overall selection in the draft, Carlos Correa (SS)(Houston Astros) as Puerto Rican shortstops with similar frames, defensive profiles and offensive games geared to some future power. Across the board, Hernandez grades slightly below Correa, most notably in arm strength and raw pop, but similarly has the hands to provide above-average defense even if his body ultimately pushes him off of the six spot. Hernandez profiles well up-the-middle and could see a jump in offensive projection with a little more restraint at the plate. He has already taken strides between the PG National Showcase in June and the WWBA World Championship in October, and could push his way into Day 1 consideration with continued growth. Today's video was taken during the scout workout and in-game at the PG National Showcase at the Metrodome, June 14-18, 2012.
