National League:

  • Giants SP Madison Bumgarner walked five but limited the damage to two runs over 5 2/3 innings in a 4-2 victory over the Rockies.
  • Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa registered a quality start, giving up three runs over six innings in a loss to the Giants.

  • Giants OF Hunter Pence belted a three-run homer in a win over the Rockies.

  • Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez launched a mammoth solo homer in a loss to the Giants.

  • Diamondbacks SP Trevor Cahill struck out seven but gave up four runs over just five innings in a loss to the Pirates.

  • Marlins SP Kevin Slowey was a hard-luck loser after allowing two runs in seven innings against the Braves.

  • Braves OF Justin Upton went 4-for-4 with his sixth homer and a double in a win over the Marlins.

  • Braves 1B/3B Chris Johnson delivered three singles in four at-bats against the Marlins.

  • Braves SP Paul Maholm allowed one hit over seven innings and struck out seven in the Braves' 2-0 win over the Marlins.
  • Mets SP Matt Harvey continued to dominate, striking out nine Phillies over seven innings of one-run ball as part of a 7-2 win.

  • Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton walked three times and struck out once against the Mets. Stanton has yet to record a HR or RBI.

  • Phillies SP Roy Halladay labored again in a loss to the Mets, allowing seven runs over four-plus innings.

  • Phillies 1B Ryan Howard saw his average drop to .148 (4-for-27) after going 0-for-3 with a sac fly.
  • Mets C John Buck clubbed a three-run homer in a win over the Phillies. Buck is batting .375 with 3 HR and 12 RBI.

  • Reds SP Mat Latos allowed four runs, one earned, over six innings in a 13-4 win over the Cardinals.

  • Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia struck out 10 while allowing three runs over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision versus the Reds.

  • Cardinals RP Mitchell Boggs had a meltdown in a non-save chance against the Reds, allowing seven runs, six earned, on two hits and four walks over 1/3 of an inning.

  • Reds 2B Brandon Phillips went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and RBI double in a win over the Cardinals.

  • Cubs SP Edwin Jackson gave up five runs on eight hits over six innings in a loss to the Brewers.

  • Brewers OF Ryan Braun went 3-for-4 with two doubles in a win over the Cubs.

  • Brewers RP Jim Henderson recorded his first save of the season in a 7-4 win over the Cubs.

American League:

  • Mariners SP Joe Saunders spun 6 1/3 scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Astros.
  • Astros SP Philip Humber posted a quality start but suffered a loss, allowing three runs over six frames against the Mariners.

  • Mariners DH Kendrys Morales went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk in a win over the Astros.

  • 1B Mitch Moreland went 3-for-3 and hit his second homer in three days in the Rangers' 5-4 victory over the Rays.

  • Rangers SP Alexi Ogando yielded one run in 5 1/3 innings in a victory over the Rays.

  • Rangers RP Joe Nathan picked up a shaky save against the Rays with help from home plate umpire Marty Foster.
  • Rays SP Jeremy Hellickson lost after allowing three runs in five innings against the Rangers.

  • Rays 3B Evan Longoria went 3-for-3 with a walk versus the Rangers.

  • Yankees 2B Robinson Cano busted out in a 11-6 win over the Indians by going 3-for-4 with two solo homers and a double.

  • Yankees SP Hiroki Kuroda gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings in a win over the Indians.

  • Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez was torched for six runs, five earned, over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Yankees.

  • Yankees DH Travis Hafner had a huge day in his return to Cleveland, as he went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI.

  • Royals SP Ervin Santana held the Twins to one run over eight strong innings in a 3-1 victory.

  • With both Greg Holland and Kelvin Herrera unavailable, Royals RP Aaron Crow closed out a win over the Twins with a scoreless ninth.

  • Twins SP Kevin Correia was unscored upon in the first seven frames against the Royals but then came undone in a three-run eighth inning.

  • Royals OF Lorenzo Cain went 2-for-3 and scored a run in a win over the Twins.

  • Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen allowed three runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Red Sox.

  • Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz threw seven scoreless innings in a 3-1 win over the Orioles.

Player Transactions:

National League:

  • The Brewers plan to move 1B Corey Hart (knee) to the 60-day disabled list before Tuesday's game, which puts him out until at least June 1st.

  • Brewers C Blake Lalli will be called up from Triple-A Nashville prior to Tuesday's game.

  • Brewers placed LHP Chris Narveson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 7, with a sprained left middle finger.

  • Nationals prospect 3B Matt Skole has been placed on the 7-day minor-league disabled list.

  • Cardinals activated 3B David Freese from the 15-day disabled list.

  • Cardinals optioned INF Ryan Jackson to Triple-A Memphis.

American League:
  • Blue Jays designated RHP Dave Bush for assignment just two days after signing him.

  • Blue Jays claimed 1B Mauro Gomez off waivers from the Red Sox; optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

  • Rangers designated LHP Jeff Beliveau for assignment.

  • Astros recalled RHP Paul Clemens from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

  • Astros placed RHP Josh Fields on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 4, with a right forearm strain.

  • Rangers acquired C Robinson Chirinos from the Rays for a player to be named later or cash considerations; optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

  • DH Julio Borbon is expected to be designated for assignment Tuesday when the Rangers call up no. 5 starter Nick Tepesch.

National League:

  • Pirates SP Wandy Rodriguez has been diagnosed with tightness in his left hamstring after leaving his start early Monday night.

  • Diamondbacks OF Cody Ross (calf) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Friday.

  • Cardinals RP Jason Motte will undergo a follow-up MRI on his right elbow on Tuesday.

  • Mets manager Terry Collins said Monday that SP Shaun Marcum (neck) has begun playing catch.

  • Mets manager Terry Collins hopes that RP Frank Francisco (elbow) will be able to pitch in a game this week.

  • Cubs 2B Darwin Barney (knee) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

  • Diamondbacks OF Adam Eaton (elbow) won't test his elbow for two weeks.
American League:
  • Rays SP Jeff Niemann will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder.

  • X-rays on Indians C Carlos Santana's left thumb came back negative, and he is listed as day-to-day.

  • Red Sox SS Stephen Drew (concussion) went 1-for-3 with a homer and a walk in his final rehab game with Double-A Portland.

  • A Red Sox source told Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com that a trip to the disabled list for SP John Lackey (bicep) "could go either way at this point."

  • Twins RP Tim Wood (shoulder) could be ready to pitch in an extended spring training game as soon as Thursday.

  • Rangers SP Yu Darvish (blisters) is expected to make his next scheduled start, Friday against the Mariners.

  • Rangers SP Colby Lewis (elbow) felt great after throwing live batting practice for the first time Saturday.

  • Rangers SP Matt Harrison dealt with lower back soreness in his last outing but is still scheduled to make his start on Thursday.
  • Red Sox DH David Ortiz (heels) went 2-for-4 with a single and a double Monday in a simulated game.

  • Red Sox RP Franklin Morales (back) will throw a 20-pitch bullpen session Tuesday.

  • The Blue Jays still don't have a timetable for 3B Brett Lawrie (ribs) to return.

National League:

  • Mets SP Aaron Laffey won't make his next start until next Tuesday against the Rockies.

  • Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago reports that the Cubs' long-range plan for RP Carlos Marmol includes returning him to the closer's role.
