- Rockies RP Rex Brothers surrendered a run on two hits, but still managed to secure his eighth save of the season.
- Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin pitched an outstanding ballgame, surrendering just one run on six hits over his eight innings.
- Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI.

- Tigers SP Doug Fister earned his 10th win of the season on Friday, limiting the White Sox to one run on seven hits over eight strong innings of work.
- White Sox OF Alex Rios had a nice day at the dish, going 2-for-3 with a walk, the team's lone RBI and his 23rd stolen base of the season.
- White Sox SP Hector Santiago racked up seven strikeouts in a losing effort, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over his seven frames.
