Perfect Game Presents: Updated 2013 Top 100 Draft Rankings

On December 5, 2012, Baseball Prospectus and Perfect Game announced a partnership to help promote and cover the game at both the amateur and professional levels. As a result of this partnership, Baseball Prospectus subscribers will now get the opportunity to read some of the great premium content being published by Perfect Game for its members.

It's mid-April, the midway point of the spring scouting season, and teams continue to align their draft boards. Some teams and players in the north have just begun playing, but baseball in the south is well underway.

Perfect Game has updated its top 100 draft-eligible prospects based on first-hand observations as well as conversations with numerous scouts, crosscheckers, scouting directors, and coaches from across the country. The top of the draft board is, for the most part, unchanged, with most of the players jockeying up and down only a handful of spots based on their performances this spring.

Oklahoma's Jonathan Gray has enjoyed one of the biggest ascents thanks to a dominant spring with the Sooners. Gray is now in the mix for the first overall selection held by the Houston Astros, along with Stanford's Mark Appel, Indiana State's Sean Manaea, and dynamic high school outfielder Clint Frazier. There are some in the industry that have noted the Astros have also done their homework on local high school product Kohl Stewart.

With seven weeks left until the draft, there is plenty of movement to come. We're still roughly a month away until teams start to narrow their choices to specific players to gauge signability and other factors.

or at least a way to determine who is college and who is HS? I would assume all HS players are SR year, but not all SR players are in HS.

We don't have birthdates for each player. That's not provided by PG. I think it's fairly easy to determine if a player is in high school or college by their "School" designation. For example, one player plays at Loganville while another player plays at Oklahoma. We can look to include highlighting of HS players in the future, however.
